The Great Crash

Church today was unique. We've always had 'contemporary praise and worship' services before, but nothing so contrasted two different worlds as what we witnessed today.

Today we saw World X exemplified by...

crash and "quietly explode" (go figure) head on with World Y captured well by...

Something like X is the stronghold of the past (and still present). Something like Y is the emerging future (and already present).

They are two ways of being, two modes of experiencing life - of experiencing God.

How can we help these two worlds to co-exist, to be edified, to mutually learn and love, to be able to say in one voice, "There is no traditional and non-traditional, but all are one in Christ"?

I think first step is to be able "to mutually learn and love" and to mutually respect each others' needs. :)

~Who are we to say which way is the most appropriate one?^^ as long as the heart is sincere and it is still yearning to praise The Lord, does it matter if one may be noisy and the other silent?^^~

spot on, Flo. the natural first-step of this approach would be to spend time 'finding out' or listening to one another, right? and yet not merely to listen but to listen with compassion, etc.

Paula, whilst I doubt there is a 'one absolutely right and appropriate' way, many folks do insist that ORDER must be kept (1 Cor 13-14)...also, the Brethren group would also insist that women should stay silent during worship, etc.

that's the tricky part. what constitutes order? is a sincere heart 'enough' or are there rules which *have* to be followed? and so on and so forth

~ The bible is but an indirect guide to live a good life hence the 'meaning' behind the word BIBLE is Basic Information Before Leaving Earth...XD( I bet you noticed that)~

~Bear also in mind that the bible were also written by mankind.. yes, of holier stature and of more experience but human nonetheless... I only go by the 10 commandments as my guide because it encompasses every aspect in one's life.

~If we were to truly follow the bible(and the women must remain silent part), a lot of us would have been condemned today. Ah well.. olden day people... this is the one aspect of Chritianity that I agree with the protestants about... It's just you and God. No man should stand between you and God and you would still be judge by Him at the end of the day^^.. so do what you think is right... I quote one of our Catholic's famous quote which is "he who sings prays twice"-St Augustine and also Psalm 9:2... so who cares in what way we sing^^
